FACC has joined the Finnish School to celebrate one of Finland’s most loved holidays Vappu and keep up the Finnish traditions.
Please join us and bring your picnic blanket, lunch and also feel free dress up like one does on Vappu. Let's see, one might also find traditional Finnish vappu snacks like sima, munkki, and tippaleipä.
Vappu, the Finnish version of Walpurgis Night and May Day, is a huge carnival-style festival that welcomes the start of spring and warmer weather. Finns gather on the streets and parks on the evening of April 30th to celebrate, drink, eat and socialize. On May 1st Finns go outside to enjoy a picnic with friends and family. Parks are full of people surrounded by colorful balloons and wearing what appear to be sailor caps.
